California Insurance Reminds All of Us About Pedestrian Safety
The sun had set and it was officially night time. I was driving home and I noticed three different pedestrians, two on foot and one on a bicycle, camouflaged by the darkness. I was shocked that non of them had any type of light or reflector to make them more visible. This is extremely dangerous and could cause serious accidents and injuries to both the driver and pedestrian. We need to make the streets safe by understanding and reviewing the proper safety tips and by having proper California insurance. When accidents occur on the road both auto insurance and health insurance are important to have.
The following driver and pedestrian safety tips will help you be safe on the road.
Bike Safety
-Always wear a helmet
-Make sure your bike is tuned up. Check tires, brakes and chains to make sure it is functioning properly.
-Always ride with lights or reflectors when dark.
Pedestrian Safety
-Only cross street at crosswalks and when it is legal to cross.
-Always walk on sidewalk and if there is no sidewalk, walk towards the traffic.
-Don't walk with loud headphones in. This will make it hard to hear if cars are coming up behind you or other traffic that could be dangerous for you.
-When dark, make sure to wear lights or reflectors so drivers can see you.
Driver Safety Tips
-Always stay alert when behind the wheel. Distracted driving: texting, talking on the phone, putting make up on etc is one of the major causes of accidents on the road.
-Always slow down when coming up to a cross walk, even if the light is green.
-Be especially aware around schools, playgrounds and other areas where children play. They are prone to darting into the road.
Your local California Insurance agent wants to make sure that everyone is protected on the roads. No matter if you are behind the wheel or walking in the street, stay aware and stay safe!
