I have been working on these blogs for over a month now and I realized the other day that I have never introduced myself. I decided today’s blog would be the day to do it as well as share a story with my readers. My name is Edyn and I am a student working towards a communication degree. In between my time as a student I work for John E. Peakes Insurance Agency helping to open up California to this amazing company. I am not one of their talented agents, I am just behind the scenes.
Just like many out there, insurance can be confusing and frustrating. I found Peakes Insurance through a friend and quickly switched my insurance to them. Throughout the two years that I have been a Peakes Insurance customer, I have learned about insurance through the agents who have taken their time to explain it to me in ways I can understand. Finally! Though I understand a little more now about insurance, I am in no way an expert. Now that I have shared a little about myself, I want to share a story, which took place this past Friday.
I started my Friday very productive, getting up and working out. I was ready for a great day. I had a meeting to go to which I had been looking forward to all week. It was raining so I was making sure to drive very cautious on the slick roads. I came to the intersection, about a minute from my final destination, where one move changed my day. The intersection had five lanes: three going straight, one straight or turn left, and one that only turns left. It may not sound confusing but trust me, it is. To cut it short, I turned left when I was not in a left turning lane causing a small accident. After talking to the other driver and making sure we both were ok, we started talking about the next step. The first thing I did was call an agent from Peakes Insurance to find out what I needed to do and what information I needed to take. When the agent from Peakes Insurance answered, I was trying to hold back tears and was extremely shookin up. (even if it’s a minor accident, its still scary) The agent told me to take a deep breath and that everything was going to be all right, that this happens all the time and this is why I have insurance. The calming voice on the other end of the phone made me feel more at ease and able to calm down and stop the tears. I was so relieved at how calming the agent was. After the agent told me what information I needed to get from the other driver they reassured me that everything would be taken care of and not to worry.
Since that point, the agents at John E. Peakes Insurance Agency have been so helpful. I also want to mention that not only do I get to speak to the agents at Peakes Insurance, but Mercury was amazing as well. The woman I spoke to was very helpful and very understanding when going over all of the information for the claim.
This was my first accident and therefore a very scary and stressful experience. But let me say first hand, the agents at Peakes Insurance have made it SO much easier! I cannot explain the stress and worry they relieved for me. And again, Mercury has done the same. Finding an auto shop closest to my house and doing everything so quickly so that I can move forward from this accident. I am so grateful that I have insurance to cover accidents like this and feel lucky that I have the agents at Peakes Insurance to help me as much as they possibly can. They truly care about their customers. So remember drive safe and always pay attention to everything!
